Edge effect removal in Fourier ptychographic microscopy via periodic plus smooth image decomposition

Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM) is a promising computational imaging technique with high resolution, wide field-of-view (FOV) and quantitative phase recovery. So far, series of system errors that may corrupt the image quality FPM has been reported. However, an imperceptible artifact caused by edge effect caught our attention also degrade precision in cross-shape space. We found reconstructed at same subregion depends on different sizes block processing as result conditions, which limits measurements via FPM. And this aperiodic extension fast transform (FFT). Herein, to remove improve accuracy, two classes opposite algorithms termed discrete cosine (DCT) perfect (PFT) were reported respectively discussed systematically. Although both approaches can artifacts be extended other analysis techniques, PFT comparable efficiency conventional FFT. The algorithm improves standard deviation accuracy factor 4 from 0.08 radians 0.02 radians. Finally, we summarized all within generalized model.
